MySTRENGTH CLUBS IN CALIFORNIA
MyStrength Clubs are a group of empowered young men who are committed to the common purpose of taking a leadership role in promoting positive strength and redefining masculinity.
The purpose of a MyStrength Club is to:
| Provide a safe, supportive environment so young men can connect with each other and explore positive examples of masculinity and male strength. |
| Understand how traditional masculinity can contribute to violence, gender inequality and unhealthy relationships so we can rise above them. |
| Inspire with examples of healthy and strong role models of what it is to be a real man today. |
| Encourage leaders to promote gender equality and prevent men's violence among their friends and in their community. |
The following communities will be establishing MyStrength Clubs in California. These organizations are taking the lead in promoting MyStrength:

LEARN ABOUT THE MEN CAN STOP RAPE ORGANIZATION
The California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) is initiating Men Can Stop Rape’s Washington DC-based “Strength Campaign” in California.
Men Can Stop Rape (MCSR) is an organization that empowers male youth and the institutions that serve them to work as allies with women in preventing rape and other forms of men's violence.
Through awareness-to-action education and community organizing, Men Can Stop Rape promotes gender equity and build men's capacity to be strong without being violent. MCSRempowers young men to join women as allies in preventing rape and other forms of men's violence.

MCSR’s accomplishments include:
| Conducting more than 350 Awareness-to-Action workshops with more than 10,000 youth nationwide. |
| Providing consultation and training to more than 1000 professionals representing more than 75 youth-serving organizations and institutions nationwide. |
| Building coalitions with other violence-prevention and victim-service organizations. |
| Presenting at 18 major conferences since 1996 across the U.S. |
| Partnering with 15 high schools, 18 colleges and universities, and 33 corporations/organizations/coalitions |
Awards/Honors:
| 1998 "Capital Area Peacemaker Award" from American University, Washington, DC, for MCSR’s innovative efforts to engage men in preventing sexual assault. |
| Selection as one of 100 organizations nationwide to work with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Office on Victims of Crime, and the Department of Justice in developing a Bill of Rights for victims of crime |
Television/Radio Appearances:
| MCSR has presented its unique approach to rape-prevention to hundreds of thousands of listeners, viewers, and readers through such media venues as: CNN, Pacifica National Public Radio, the Oprah Winfrey Show, WJLA-Channel 7, WPGC 95.5 FM Radio, DC101, and Cosmopolitan magazine. |
